Day 1
This two-day desert getaway from Fez begins at the most convenient location for you whether that’s the airport, your hotel, or another meeting point in the city. Our Spanish-speaking driver will meet you in a private, comfortable vehicle, and together you’ll head south for the start of your desert journey.
The first noteworthy stop will be Ifrane, a town perched over 1,700 meters above sea level in the Middle Atlas. Known for its Alpine-style architecture and spotless streets, Ifrane stands out from typical Moroccan cities, especially when blanketed in snow during winter.
From there, the journey continues through Ifrane National Park also called the Cedar Forest or Monkey Forest thanks to its majestic cedar trees and population of Barbary macaques, one of the last remaining wild habitats for these endangered primates.
Crossing the Middle Atlas, you’ll descend toward the Ziz Valley, shaped by a narrow but long river. As you follow its path, the scenery becomes increasingly arid until you arrive in Erfoud. This town is known for its fossil discoveries, including dinosaur remains, its marble craftsmanship, and its role as a filming location for movies like The Mummy.
A short drive further brings you to Merzouga, the gateway to the iconic Erg Chebbi dunes. Here, you’ll switch transportation from vehicle to camel (or optionally, 4×4) and ride into the heart of the desert. The vast sea of golden sand will surround you as you make your way to a traditional tented camp.
At the camp, you’ll be welcomed with Berber tea and enjoy a delicious dinner. Your night will be spent under the stars in a desert tent, offering an unforgettable view of the sky free from city lights or clouds.

Day 2
On the second day of your desert adventure from Fez, an early start is highly recommended to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes a magical moment as the desert awakens in golden light. After taking in this stunning sight, you’ll enjoy breakfast and return to Merzouga by camel (or by 4×4, depending on your chosen option). A refreshing shower will be available either at a local hotel or in the camp’s facilities, depending on your package.
The return journey to Fez follows the same route as the day before, though with fewer stops, allowing us to reach the city by early afternoon. This gives you enough time to catch your flight or enjoy a relaxing stroll through Fez, a city rich in history and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
At the designated drop-off point, we’ll say our goodbyes grateful for your trust and hopeful to welcome you again on future adventures from Fez to the desert or other beautiful destinations across Morocco.
